For over four decades, The Grand Rapids Jazz Orchestra (GRJO) has been a driving force in West Michigan’s vibrant music scene. As one of the region’s premier big bands, GRJO unites some of the area’s top talent—exceptional soloists, seasoned sidemen, and passionate educators—dedicated to the art of live jazz. Since its founding in 1976 by the late Bruce Early, GRJO has lit up stages with everything from bold original compositions to timeless swing classics. The band’s high-energy performances have captivated audiences at concerts, festivals, dances, and private events throughout the Midwest. GRJO’s impressive legacy includes sharing the stage with jazz legends like Clark Terry, Louis Bellson, Phil Woods, Pearl Bailey, Kenny Wheeler, Randy Brecker, Maria Schneider, Allen Vizzutti, Phil Wilson, and Bobby Shew—solidifying their reputation as a world-class ensemble. Concert begins at 7:30 PM
As part of the TAC Jazz Festival, the evening opens with the High School All‑Star Band, showcasing outstanding young musicians from across the region.
The Grand Rapids Jazz Orchestra will follow with a full performance featuring acclaimed vocalist Edye Evans Hyde, known for her dynamic stage presence and expressive jazz artistry.
